At Ashburton in New Zealand, Coolmore's former dual Champion Australian Sire Encosta De Lago (Fairy King-Shoal Creek, by Star Way) added a stakes success when talented 3YO filly Costa Viva (Encosta de Lago-Vivacious Spirit, by Bel Esprit) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Jason Bridgman in the NZ$50,000 Listed Ray Coupland Stakes (1400m) for 3YOs, over 3YO geldings Chambord (Zabeel-Miss Montjeu, by Montjeu) & Tappy's Best (Stravinsky-Tapildo, by Rhythm). This was Costa Viva's first stakes victory and took her record to 2 wins & a placing (the Gr3 Hawke's Bay Gold Trail Stakes) from 3 starts for NZ$53,060 earnings.
