Beshara Disqualified For Six Months

Tuesday, 22nd October 2013

Adelaide trainer Paul Beshara has been disqualified for six months by Racing Victoria's Racing Appeals & Disciplinary (RAD) Board after being found guilty of treating Happy Trails prior to the running of the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley last month, reports racingnetwork.com.au. Happy Trails was withdrawn from the race after Racing Victoria's Compliance Assurance Team (CAT) discovered a puncture wound on his neck that indicated an illegal treatment. The RAD Board deferred the disqualification until midnight on October 27 to allow Beshara to make alternative stabling arrangements for his horses, but a ban preventing him from starting horses in his name begins immediately. According to theage.com.au, Beshara applied to the Victorian Civil & Administrative Tribunal last night for a stay of proceedings, however that was denied and Happy Trails will now be trained by Byron Cozamanis.
