Tendon Injury Sidelines Ambitious Dragon
Meanwhile, the horse that lured Moreira to Hong Kong in the first place, Ambitious Dragon, has succumbed to a tendon injury and will be sidelined indefinitely, reports scmp.com. Trainer Tony Millard said the tendon injury that has ended Ambitious Dragon's quest to defend his Hong Kong Mile title in December, could see the two-time Hong Kong Horse Of The Year out of action for 12 months. "He'll go up to Beas River and rest and I'll look at him later - if I've got to give him a year, I will," Millard said. "I had a lot of success with tendon horses in South Africa. People come to you and say try this or that but I've found the only thing that really works is giving them as much time as they need. Time heals everything." The New Zealand-bred Ambitious Dragon (Pins-Golden Gamble, by Oregon), who will be 8-years-old when he hopefully returns in a year, has won 13 of his 26 starts including 7 Gr1s.
