Rain Deciding Factor For Undefeated Middleham Duo
Middleham Park Racing, owners of leading Racing Post Trophy protagonists Toormore & Chief Barker, will consider several factors such as the forecast conditions and likely opposition ahead of Thursday's final declaration stage before confirming their participation, reports ukracing.com. Toormore (Arakan-Danetime Out, by Danetime) & Chief Barker (Azamour-Millay, by Polish Precedent) are both trained by master trainer Richard Hannon and a win for either 2YO colt would provide Middleham with the coup de grace of a highly successful season. "We'll make a decision a bit later in the week. The rain could change the dynamic," said Middleham Park spokesman Tim Palin. "We were at the Hannons on Sunday and saw them work. We were all delighted with both horses so it was decided to leave them both in." Richard Hannon Jnr, assistant to his father, says both colts could end up running. "I think they could both take their chance. They are both Middleham Park horses but they are owned by different people so they are sort of mutually exclusive," he said. Toormore & Chief Barker possess virtually identical records, with both undefeated after three starts. Toormore is already a winner at the elite level after claiming the Gr1 National Stakes at The Curragh at his most recent outing, while Chief Barker is also a stakes winner, taking out the Listed Ascendant Stakes at Haydock last start.
