South African Province Receives R10M Prize-Money Boost

KwaZulu-Natal racing province in South Africa will receive a significant R10 million prize-money boost after the Board of Gold Circle voted to increase stakes levels for the 2013-2014 financial year, reports goldcircle.co.za. Commencing November 1st, the additional funds will be distributed across all races with minor races to receive the biggest increases. For example, maiden events will now be worth a minimum of R75,000. R1.5 million of the proposed R10 million will be allocated to feature races to meet graded stakes criteria. Gold Circle has also budgeted for an increased number of race meetings with the total likely to rise from 98 to 109.
