Golden Slipper Winner's Son Breaks Maiden In Style
Polarmore, a son of 2003 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, broke his maiden yesterday in impressive fashion when winning the Peters Meats 3YO C&G Handicap (1150m) at Randwick's Kensington track. Racing in the famous red & yellow seamed silks of owners Segenhoe Stud, the 3YO More Than Ready colt bounded clear in the straight to score a dominant 1.8-lengths win despite racing wide for most of the race. Polarmore was a $500,000 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale graduate and trainer John O'Shea believes the youngster has a bright future. "He made nice improvement from his run the other day and appreciated the three weeks between runs," O'Shea told TVN. "I think he needs to get some experience under his belt, he has got to learn his trade, it is no good coming back in the autumn wanting to run in a good race with something that has only had two starts." Lockroy, a 2YO full-brother to Polarmore, will make his debut on Cox Plate day this Saturday in the $250,000 Inglis Banner (1000m). Lockroy, who was retained by his breeder Twin Palms Stud, is trained by the Hawkes triumvirate of John, Wayne & Michael and will be ridden by stable jockey Dwayne Dunn.
