Overbury Stud Acquires Cityscape For 2014

Thursday, 24th October 2013

Last year's brilliant Gr1 Dubai Duty Free winner Cityscape (Selkirk-Tantina, by Distant View) will stand at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire next year at a fee of £5,000, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. "We're very lucky to have a horse of his calibre standing at Overbury Stud," said stud owner Simon Sweeting. "He is the best son of Selkirk to retire to stud and he will be a great outcross for breeders to use in the coming years." Sweeting continued, "He also has a strong pedigree, being a half-brother to Bated Breath and coming from the family of Redoute's Choice. Everything is there on the page," he said. Bred and raced by Khalid Abdullah, Cityscape won 6 of his 23 starts under the guidance of UK trainer Roger Charlton. Although Cityscape failed to win again after his 4.5-length Dubai Duty Free romp, he continued to perform consistently at the highest level, finishing runner-up to the brilliant Excelebration in the Gr1Prix Jacques Le Marois & the Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. As mentioned above, Cityscape descends from the same family as former champion Australian stallion Redoute's Choice. This is the celebrated Best In Show family, whom Cityscape counts as his fifth dam.
