Sea Moon To Start In Lexus

Thursday, 24th October 2013

The Lloyd Williams-owned Sea Moon (Beat Hollow-Eva Luna, by Alleged) will have his final run before the $6.2 million Melbourne Cup (3200m) in the Gr3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day, reports horseracing.com.au. Macedon Lodge spokesman Nick Williams told Sky Racing HQ yesterday that Sea Moon would have a traditional Cup lead-up by racing three days before the race. "He will go to the Lexus on Derby Day; we were thinking about running him in the Mackinnon but he gets into the Lexus really well and he is a mile and a half horse," Williams said. "At 60kg he effectively gets the benefit of two or three kilos in the weight. He is incredibly well in…I'm sure that he will appreciate the wide expansions of Flemington and I'm sure that he will go really well." At this stage, the Williams' stable is likely to have seven runners in this year's Cup with Sea Moon to be joined by last year's winner Green Moon, Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner, Mourayan, Seville, Tanby & Masked Marvel.
