Mosse To Ride Red Cadeaux

Friday, 25th October 2013

World-class French jockey Gerald Mosse will partner Red Cadeaux (Cadeaux Genereux-Artisia, by Peintre Celebre) when the UK stayer bids to go one better in this year's Melbourne Cup, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Ed Dunlop-trained 7YO gelding was narrowly beaten by Dunaden in the 2011 edition of the Cup before returning last year to finish eighth behind Green Moon. Red Cadeaux has been in reasonable form this campaign but will need to improve if he is to prove competitive at Flemington on November 5. After finishing a well-beaten sixth to German star Novellist in the Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in late July, he finished runner-up to Royal Empire in the Gr3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes & fourth behind Voleuse de Coeurs in the Gr1 Irish St Leger at his last two outings.
