Star US Colt Retired

Monday, 28th October 2013

Meanwhile, this year's Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow (Awesome Again-Tizamazing, by Cee's Tizzy) has been retired and will stand at Taylor Made Stallions in Kentucky in 2014, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. Oxbow established himself as one of the most talented 3YOs in North America, also winning the Gr3 Lecomte Stakes and finishing runner-up to Palace Malice in the Gr1 Belmont Stakes. Hall Of Fame trainer D Wayne Lukas commented: "There's so much to like about Oxbow. When we bought him as a yearling, he was so athletic that it looked like you could put a saddle on him and run him." Oxbow was a US$250,000 yearling and is a brother to stakes winner Awesome Patriot out of an unraced sister to dual Breeders' Cup Classic winner and sire Tiznow. "We are absolutely thrilled and very appreciative that Calumet Farm has made the decision to stand Oxbow at Taylor Made," said Ben Taylor, vice president of Taylor Made Stallions." Taylor added, "Oxbow is the classic, two-turn dirt horse that both the breeders and yearling buyers look for. He was a major contender in every Triple Crown race and is one of the toughest horses I've seen in some time." Oxbow's 2014 service fee will be US$20,000.
