Classic Hope Kingman Recovering From Minor Surgery

Tuesday, 29th October 2013

Meanwhile, John Gosden is looking forward to preparing Kingman (Invincible Spirit-Zenda, by Zamindar) for his classic 3YO campaign after the colt underwent minor surgery for an ankle problem, reports attheraces.com. The Juddmonte-owned colt is the pre-post favourite for next season's 2,000 Guineas despite missing the Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp three weeks ago. The exciting Kingman is unbeaten after following up his six-length debut success at Newmarket with a win in the Gr3 Solario Stakes at Sandown in August. "He had to go in for surgery, which is never ideal. He was coming up to the Jean-Luc Lagardere in good form and I think he'd have been very hard to beat in it," explained Gosden. "He seems to be doing fine. He's back at the farm (Juddmonte) now. His mother had a similar issue and it tends to run a bit in the family." The beautifully bred Kingman is from the Gr1-winning Zamindar mare Zenda, making him a half-brother to UK Gr3 winner Remote (Dansili). Zenda, in turn, is from the Dancing Brave mare Hope, rendering her a half-sister to outstanding sprinter and successful sire Oasis Dream.
