Tuesday, 29th October 2013

At Woodbine in Canada, deceased dual-Derby winning stallion & former shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) celebrated a Gr1 success when 6YO entire Joshua Tree (Montjeu-Madeira Mist, by Grand Lodge) scored by 0.75-length for trainer Ed Dunlop in the US$956,800 Gr1 Canadian International Stakes (12 furlongs) for 3YO+, over fellow 6YO entire Hyper (Victory Gallop-Raw Nerve, by Nureyev) & 5YO Irish-bred gelding Seismos (Dalakhani-Sasuela, by Dashing Blade). This was Joshua Tree's second successive victory in the Canadian International Stakes, and his third overall, taking his record to 7 wins (including the Gr1 Canadian International Stakes - twice, Gr2 Prix Kergorlay & Gr2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot) & 11 placings (including the Gr1 Epsom Coronation Cup, Gr1 Canadian International Stakes & Gr1 Grosser Preis von Baden) from 31 starts.
