The Fugue Touches Down For Breeders' Cup
John Gosden says that outstanding UK mare The Fugue (Dansili-Twyla Tharp, by Sadler's Wells) appears to have coped just fine with the long journey from England to Los Angeles ahead of this weekend's Breeder's Cup, reports 1.skysports.com. Gosden is hoping the triple Gr1 winner has better luck than last year, when she finished third in the Filly & Mare Turf after encountering a chequered passage in running. "They all flew from Stansted on Saturday on a direct cargo flight to Los Angeles rather than having to refuel somewhere," Gosden said. "She seems to have travelled well. It's early days, and we know from travelling horses long distance you have to be careful." Although The Fugue is entered in the mares race again this year, Gosden is keen to take on the boys in the Breeders' Cup Turf. "Her first preference is stated as being in the Turf over a mile and a half against the colts," he said. The Fugue will be shooting for three straight Gr1 victories after winning the Irish Champion Stakes & Yorkshire Oaks at her last two outings.
