UK Groom Sent Home After Werribee Quarantine Breach
Meanwhile, the travelling head-lad for UK trainer Tom Dascombe has been sent home to England "following a breach of security", reports 1.skysports.com. Groom Andy Jackson, who came to Australia to look after the Michael Owen-owned Melbourne Cup hopeful Brown Panther, is alleged to have jumped the fences to get in and out of Werribee where the international horses are stabled under strict quarantine protocols. Racing Victoria International recruitment officer Leigh Jordon, who discussed the situation with both Dascombe and government officials, said, "It was a totally inappropriate thing to do but it is a testimony to our set up that we managed to catch him and get him showered... It seems a very strange thing to do and it is a pretty severe breach. Our systems are verified by the government, though, and they are very happy with them."
