Baffert A Happy Dude

Wednesday, 30th October 2013

Race favourite Game On Dude (Awesome Again-Worldly Pleasure, by Devil His Due) will start from barrier nine in the US$5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, reports au.eurosport.com. The Bob Baffert-trained 6YO is bidding for his first Classic success after two failed attempts. In 2011, the powerful bay was gunned down in the shadows by Drosselmeyer, and last year he finished a disappointing seventh when starting as favourite. However, Hall Of Famer Baffert is adamant that Game On Dude is a different beast this year and believes he is drawn to finally break his Breeders' Cup drought. "I like his outside post. I didn't want to be buried down on the inside," he told thoroughbreddailynews.com. The son of Awesome Again, who is undefeated this season with three Gr1 victories to his name, will be partnered by Mike Smith, who will be searching for his fourth win in the Classic. "He's a totally different horse this year," Baffert said. "He's not the same horse that ran here last year. He's bigger, he's filled out and he's a happy horse. I've spaced his races out and that's allowed me to keep his weight on."
