Ruud Awakening Gets Another Shot At Aust Glory

Thursday, 31st October 2013

Potential-laden New Zealand 3YO filly Ruud Awakening (Bernardini-Dawn Almighty, by Danehill) is being given another opportunity to improve on her Australian record, reports theinformant.co.nz. The Champion 2YO of last season in New Zealand has been entered by trainer Stephen Marsh in the $100,000 flemingtonfling Stakes over the Straight Five (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day. Beaten only 3-lengths last Saturday, Ruud Awakening had been suffering from bruised soles, however Marsh is confident she is set to put her best foot forward and has engaged Corey Brown for the ride. Marsh commented: "I think 1000 metres down the chute at Flemington will suit her. She's shown she has got the speed to jump out and be there. Whatever happens, she will come home after this for a spell."
