Thursday, 31st October 2013

At Bendigo in Victoria, former shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a black-type success when 6YO gelding Sertorius (Galileo-Pretty Penny, by Encosta de Lago) scored by 1.5-lengths for trainers Jamie Edwards & Bruce Elkington in the $240,000 Listed Bendigo Cup (2400m) for 3YO+, over 5YO Irish-bred entire Massiyn (Zamindar-Masilia, by Kahyasi) & 5YO French-bred gelding Kesampour (King's Best-Kasatana, by Hernando). Sertorius handled his first attempt at 2400m with aplomb in securing his first stakes victory and took his record to 8 wins & 9 placings (including the Gr3 Victoria Handicap & Listed Cranbourne Cup) from 23 starts for $534,372 earnings.
