Longchamp Development Delayed

Thursday, 1st May 2014

France Galop has confirmed that the project to rebuild the stands at Longchamp will be delayed by 12 months, meaning the next two editions of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe will be run at their traditional home, reports racingpost.com. The city of Paris awarded a building permit for the site last month but French racing's ruling body elected to give itself longer to negotiate with potential suppliers and construction firms. The 2016 Arc will now be run at Chantilly before the race returns to the newly redeveloped Longchamp in 2017. The news comes 24 hours after France Galop announced total prize-money for the Arc would rise to €5 million this year.
