Winner For O'Shea As Darley Chapter Begins
John O'Shea ended his career as a public trainer with a winner at Canterbury yesterday as he prepares to take over from Peter Snowden at the helm of racing superpower Darley, reports racingandsports.com.au. The promising High Chaparral gelding Winsomemore continued his rise through the grades when scoring a comfortable 3-length win in the Drummond Golf Handicap (1550m) just four days before O'Shea starts his new role as head trainer for Darley. "It's obviously an honour to be taking up the position which is just about the No.1 training position in the world," O'Shea said. "Hopefully I can do it justice." Winsomemore will be transferred to outgoing Darley trainer Peter Snowden, who will be taking over most of O'Shea's team. Snowden will have his final runners for Sheikh Mohammed on Saturday while O'Shea spends the next few days preparing for his new job with his first runners for Darley set to be at Warwick Farm next Wednesday. O'Shea says he is looking forward to the challenge ahead. "It's all excitement. I'm not sentimental and I'm still going to be keeping relationships with the people close to me," he said. "It is a little bit daunting but Darley have great people and that is making it all easier."
