Anyday Anytime Shows Star Quality

Friday, 2nd May 2014

The Australian-bred Anyday Anytime (Any Given Saturday-Our Dizzy Raine, by Danehill) looked a star sprinter in the making when thrashing a quality field in the R100,000 Soccer 6 MR 91 Divided Handicap (1200m) at Vaal in South Africa overnight. The 4YO gelding was having just his fourth race start and was coming off a stunning 9-length victory at Turffontein on 5 April, where he recorded a brilliant time of 1:06.9 for the 1160 metres. Yesterday's win was all the more impressive as he was graduating from a maiden to a 91 rating race but he did it with ease, powering clear over the final 200 metres to win by 3.2-lengths over the talented Skitt Skizzle. At his previous start, Skitt Skizzle was placed third behind Gitiano in a Gr2 sprint at Turffontein, further underlining the strength of Anyday Anytime's win. The Stanley Ferreira-trained Anyday Anytime was purchased by Heritage Bloodstock for $40,000 at the 2011 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Little Plains Stud. By Any Given Saturday from the Danehill mare Our Dizzy Raine, Anyday Anytime hails from the successful Wuthering Heights (NZ) family, which includes Caulfield Cup & Australian Derby winner Sky Heights, South Australian Derby winner Mapperley Heights, and the outstanding New Zealand galloper of the mid 1970s Battle Heights, winner of a Cox Plate, The Metropolitan, Sydney Cup, Queen Elizabeth Stakes & Wellington Cup among others.
