O'Reilly Filly Impresses In South African Debut

Friday, 2nd May 2014

Australian-bred 3YO filly Lertasha (O'Reilly-Entrust, by Danehill) opened her career in sensational fashion at Vaal in South Africa overnight, scoring a brilliant debut win in the Soccer 10 Maiden Plate (1400m) for fillies and mares. The Weiho Marwing-trained Lertasha looked a filly of the highest order when cruising to an effortless 6.2-length victory under jockey Richard Fourie. The beautifully bred Lertasha, by O'Reilly from the Danehill mare Entrust, was a R800,000 purchase by Dayalan Chinsammy from the draft of Hemel 'n Aarde Stud as agent at the 2012 Cape Premier Yearling Sale in South Africa. Lertasha hails from the family of Gr1-winning US stallion Clever Trick, sire of Breeders' Cup Juvenile winners Favorite Trick and Phone Chatter.
