Miss France Wins UK 1,000 Guineas

Monday, 5th May 2014

At Newmarket in the UK, 3YO French filly Miss France (Dansili-Miss Tahiti, by Tirol) scored by a neck for trainer Andre Fabre in the Gr1 1,000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Lightning Thunder (Dutch Art-Sweet Coincidence, by Mujahid) & Ihtimal (Shamardal-Eastern Joy, by Dubai Destination). Miss France took her record to 3 wins (including the Gr3 Oh So Sharp Stakes) from 5 starts for £281,762 earnings. The Guineas win was the first for master trainer Andre Fabre, with the fillies Classic one of few feature races to have eluded him. "It means a lot and I couldn't be more delighted," Fabre told racingpost.com. "She is entered for the Coronation Stakes but I will discuss it with the owners." When asked how Miss France rated with the best fillies he had trained, he responded, "I think the best filly I ever trained was Golden Lilac, she was an explosive type. This one, she's a quiet, nice filly with a long stride. They are different types."
