Inglis Broodmare & Weanling Day-3: Average Soars 48%
The new dates and format of the Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale have been hailed a success with excellent results that have clearly vindicated the auction company's decision to reposition the sale. "Innovation is always at the forefront of our minds at Inglis and we are very pleased that moving the broodmares from Easter and Sydney weanlings from June into one streamlined sale in May has been a winner for both vendors and buyers," said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster. Buyers spent $23,212,450 on 160 weanlings and 405 mares over the past three days in Sydney. The average broodmare price in the Select Session this week was $54,640, up 23 per cent on the figure recorded for the combined Select and Super Select Session at last year's Easter Broodmare Sale, while the outstanding clearance rate of 84 per cent was well up on the 75 per cent recorded in April last year. The average weanling price of $34,285 was a remarkable 48 per cent higher than the figure recorded in June 2013, while the median rose 62 per cent to $17,000 and the Select Weanling Sale clearance rate finished at a very strong 87 per cent.
