Time Running Out For Kiyoshi

Wednesday, 7th May 2014

Charlie Hills believes the next couple of days are crucial if Kiyoshi (Dubawi-Mocca, by Sri Pekan) has any chance of making the Irish 1,000 Guineas having been forced to miss the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on the weekend, reports racinguk.com. The 3YO filly will continue to be monitored closely, although Hills reports that she has improved since being found to be lame after a routine exercise gallop on Saturday. X-rays failed to show any irregularities, but the next 48 hours are likely to be highly informative as to whether Hills can prepare her for the Curragh on 25 May. "She's certainly better today that what she was yesterday. We're just going to start a little exercise," said the Lambourn trainer. "All being well the next couple of days will tell us and if all does go well we'll go to the Irish Guineas. The next couple of days are crucial." Kiyoshi, who is owned by Sheikh Fahad Al Thani's Qatar Racing, was one of the top fillies in Britain last year, winning the Gr3 Albany Stakes at Ascot before ending her juvenile season with a pair of Gr1-placings, in the Moyglare Stud Stakes and the Cheveley Park Stakes.
