Brown Panther Dominant On Return

Monday, 12th May 2014

Talented UK stayer Brown Panther (Shirocco-Treble Heights, by Unfuwain), having his first start since finishing a creditable eighth in last year's Melbourne Cup, scored a decisive 2.25-lengths win for trainer Tom Dascombe in the Gr3 Ormonde Stakes (13.5 furlongs) at Chester on Friday. The 6YO entire, who is owned by former English football star Michael Owen and Betfair founder Andrew Black, proved too strong for 4YO entires Hillstar (Danehill Dancer-Crystal Star, by Mark Of Esteem) and Banoffee (Hurricane Run-Nanabanana, by Anabaa) and is on track for his main target, the Gr1 Ascot Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. "He travelled beautifully and settled well and I was confident the whole way around," said Dascombe. "If he is fine after this we'll go to Sandown [for the Henry II Stakes]."
