Streama Thriving Ahead Of Doomben Cup
Blake Shinn believes Streama (Stratum-Pensiamo, by Sovereign Red) is the horse to beat ahead of Saturday's Gr1 Doomben Cup (2000m) following an impressive gallop at Doomben yesterday morning, reports racingnetwork.com.au. Shinn is confident that the Guy Walter-trained mare has improved since her last-start win in the Gr2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast. "She bowled around over 1400m, improved last 600m, it was a nice working gallop," Shinn said. "She is enjoying her surroundings, bit of a change, I think it has been good for her - she isn't a different horse, just one that is enjoying herself." Streama's Hollindale win was the first time she has raced beyond a mile since winning the Australian Oaks as a filly and Shinn is of the opinion the rise in distance to 2000 metres is ideal at this point of her career. "Her work was as strong as ever, she is clean winded and was strong on the line in the Hollindale," he said. "If it rains, I'll be even more confident she can win."
