Change In Format For 2014 Tattersalls Ireland Yearlings

Thursday, 15th May 2014

Due to what Tattersalls Ireland describes as "unprecedented demand from vendors for places in the September Yearling Sale", the sales house has announced that its September Yearling Sale format will be restructured to accommodate a third day in 2014. The format will be finessed to allow a more select offering on the first two days, with a Part 2 section of the Sale being held on the third day, Thursday September 25. As a result of these changes the November Yearling Sale will not now take place in 2014 and yearlings normally earmarked for this sale will be accommodated in Part 2 in September. Tattersalls Ireland Managing Director, Roger Casey commented: "These changes were necessary to accommodate the fierce and continued demand from vendors to be part of this increasingly successful sale. The September Sale has grown significantly for five consecutive years and last year was no exception when we again had an outstanding set of returns, with a record number of UK buyers, a huge influx of overseas purchasers in attendance and a highest price of €180,000 achieved. Due to the enormous number of applications already received this year and further to consultation with vendors and purchasers, in an effort to further enhance the sale we have decided to amend the number of horses catalogued on the first two days of this year's September Yearling Sale and to reintroduce the Part 2 format..."
