Vlahos To Fight Charges

Monday, 19th May 2014

Racing identity Bill Vlahos is expected to contest two charges brought against him by Racing Victoria which threaten to place him on the disqualification list, reports racingnetwork.com.au. Vlahos' legal counsel has indicated to Racing Victoria that he plans to fight the two charges laid against him on 28 February. However, it is believed Vlahos himself will not be appearing before the Racing Appeals & Disciplinary Board. Vlahos is charged under Rule 175 (a), which deals with dishonest, fraudulent, improper or dishonourable action or practice in connection with racing. An RV investigative team probed the operations of BC3 Thoroughbreds, of which Vlahos was a director, company secretary and part-owner, from November 2008 to December, 2013. RV stewards charged Vlahos with improper diversion of funds into BC3 Thoroughbreds, and over the distribution of funds in the purchase of Black Caviar's half-brother "Jimmy" for $5 million at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
