At York in the UK, former shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a group success when 5YO gelding Gospel Choir (Galileo-Chorist, by Pivotal) scored by a neck for trainer Sir Michael Stoute in the £140,000 Gr2 Yorkshire Cup (14 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 7YO French-bred gelding Tac de Boistron (Take Risks-Pondiki, by Sicyos) & fellow 5YO gelding Tiger Cliff (Tiger Hill-Verbania, by In The Wings). The Cheveley Park Stud-owned Gospel Choir took his record to 6 wins (including the Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes) and 1 placing from 11 starts for £195,318 earnings. Sir Michael Stoute intimated after the race that Gospel Choir is likely to head to the Gr2 Hardwicke Stakes (12 furlongs) at Royal Ascot on 21 June, although he also holds an entry for the Gr1 Coral Eclipse (10 furlongs) at Sandown on 5 July.
