Strong Clearance At Inglis Scone Yearling Sale
Trainers from all parts of Australia descended on the Hunter Valley on Sunday for the 2014 Inglis HTBA Scone Yearling Sale at White Park. While local buyers were active with yearlings sold to various regions of New South Wales, ACT, Northern Territory, Victoria and South Australia, yearlings were also purchased by buyers for export to China and Hong Kong. In total, 165 yearlings were sold for $1,801,850 at an average price of $10,920. The sale, which proved to be very successful, recording an excellent clearance rate of 84 per cent, also made history with the debut of Australia's first female thoroughbred auctioneer, Stephanie Grentell. The sale topper was purchased by Darby Bloodstock who picked up Gr2-winning juvenile Time For War at last year's Scone Yearling Sale. Consigned by local nursery Yarraman Park Stud, the colt (Lot 185) by boom sire I Am Invincible from stakes-winning mare Flickering Fire (Forest Glow) was sold for $82,500.
