Swettenham Announces Service Fees

Wednesday, 21st May 2014

Swettenham Stud has announced the service fees for its impressive line-up of stallions will remain unchanged this year. Dual King's Stand Stakes winner Equiano heads the roster at $16,500 on the back of an outstanding sale at the Inglis Melbourne Premier in March. Apart from topping the first-season table, Equiano's son from Hidden Energy (Dehere) set a record for the highest price ever paid for a yearling by a first season sire in Victoria when selling for $420,000. Equiano has achieved immediate success as a sire, with English-bred 2YOs Moving Melody Lightning Stride both winning impressively on debut. "The Melbourne Premier results have sparked an even higher level of interest in Equiano," Swettenham Stud owner Adam Sangster said.  "He's an exciting stallion for us and for the Victorian industry." Melbourne Cup winner Americain will stand his second southern season for $13,750 after covering 155 mares in his first book at Nagambie before shuttling back to Calumet Farm in Kentucky. "Americain was a superior stayer with a sensational turn of foot," Sangster explained.  "He's from the Red Ransom sireline and his damsire Arazi was a Champion 2YO in Europe and North America." A magnificent individual free of Danehill blood, Americain provides an attractive outcross for broodmare owners. Standing alongside Equiano and Americain are Gr1 winners Master Of Design and Host, as well as speedy Gr3-winning sprinter Kaphero, to round out a high-quality roster. Swettenham's GST-inclusive 2014 roster is:

  • Equiano - $16,500
  • Americain - $13,750
  • Master Of Design - $12,500
  • Host - $8,800
  • Kaphero - $5,500
