California Chrome Arrives At Belmont
Triple Crown aspirant California Chrome arrived at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning to prepare for the Belmont Stakes on 7 June, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner settled into his box in Barn 26 after posing for photographs. "He likes to stand out here and pose," commented assistant trainer Alan Sherman. "He loves to get his picture taken. He's a very inquisitive horse. He's always checking out what's going on around him." If California Chrome is successful in the Belmont, he will become the 12th Triple Crown winner in history and the first since Affirmed in 1978. The son of Lucky Pulpit will have his first gallop at the New York track on Wednesday. "We'll gallop him up to the Saturday before the Belmont an then probably breeze him an easy half-mile and then just jog and gallop into the race," he said.
