Noble Given Gr1 Mission

Thursday, 22nd May 2014

Frankel's younger brother Noble Mission (Galileo-Kind, by Danehill) could make his Gr1 debut this weekend after being supplemented for the Tattersalls Gold Cup (10.5 furlongs) at the Curragh on Sunday, reports racingpost.com. Sunday will mark a first step into the highest grade for the progressive 5YO, who has had a brilliant start to the season winning the Gr3 Gordon Richards Stakes and the Gr3 Huxley Stakes at his last two outings. The race will provide owner Khalid Abdullah with a good gauge on just where Noble Mission sits among the UKs elite performers with Derby winner Ruler Of The World, Breeders' Cup Turf hero Magician, Dubai World Cup runner-up Mukhadram and Irish Derby winner Trading Leather, all potential Gold Cup starters. Trainer Lady Cecil commented on warrenplacestables.com: "Noble Mission has made an excellent start to the season. We felt he had done very well through the winter and we've been delighted with how he has performed so far in 2014." She added, "He has earned the right to contest a Gr1 - hence the decision to supplement for the Tattersalls Gold Cup. We've been happy with him since Chester and feel he is capable of once again being very competitive, stepped up to Gr1 company."
