Shuttle Unlikely For Zoustar

Monday, 26th May 2014

Dual-hemisphere stud plans for star Australian colt Zoustar (Northern Meteor-Zouzou, by Redoute's Choice) are on hold following the dual Gr1-winner's early retirement, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. David Redvers, bloodstock adviser for part-owner Sheikh Fahad, said shuttling the son of Northern Meteor to the northern hemisphere in 2015 was unlikely to be considered following the suspensory ligament injury suffered this week that ended the colt's planned British campaign. Redvers said Zoustar's absence from the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the July Cup at Newmarket would make it difficult to launch his stud career in Europe in his first year. "I'm sure he would have blitzed the Diamond Jubilee field and heralded a dual-hemisphere stallion career but now I expect it would be difficult to establish him here," Redvers told ANZ Bloodstock. "We will just send him back down to Australia so he can establish himself at Widden Stud first and see what happens in the future."
