MM National Weanling Day-2: Average Up 20.8%
Following the conclusion of Day-2 of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, the average had climbed almost 21 percent ($43,559) versus 2013 ($36,042). The clearance rate of 87 percent (on par with 2013) saw the aggregate increase by 78 percent to $15.2 million. "It's been a staggering two days of selling weanlings," Magic Millions managing director Vin Cox enthused. "Our gross is up more than 75 per cent and the average by over 20 per cent. This tells us not only is there a robust appetite for weanlings, but the Australian bloodstock industry is extremely healthy." Cox noted: "The pleasing thing is that it wasn't only about the Teeley Sale. The sale built on the momentum of yesterday. We now look forward to three days of select fillies and mares starting tomorrow."
