Newgate Farm Standing Gr1 War Front Son
In addition to dual Gr1 winner Declaration Of War, Australian breeders will have the opportunity in 2014 to tap into another high profile son of boom US sire War Front. The Danzig line 1st crop shuttler is The Factor (War Front-Greyciousness, by Miswaki) who stands at Lane's End Farm in the US. A graduate of the Barrets May Sale, where he was the US$250,000 sale-topper, The Factor retired with 6 wins including victories in the Gr1 Pat O'Brien Stakes (as a 3YO against older horses) and the Gr1 Malibu Stakes & 2 runners up (in the Gr1 Bing Crosby Handicap at Del Mar & Gr1 Triple Bend Handicap at Hollywood Park) from 13 starts. In making the announcement, Newgate's release noted: "What attracted us most to him was how perfectly he suits Australian breeding. He was brilliantly fast, so fast that his hall-of-fame trainer, Bob Baffert, described him a 'freak' and the fastest horse that he has ever trained... His speed is not just evidenced by his trophies, but also by some of the fastest times in history, his six-furlong clocking of 1:06 4/5 marking him as the fastest 1200m horse ever to stand in Australia." The Factor's sire War Front is quickly establishing himself as the next breed-shaping stallion with 6 Gr1-winning colts to his name in his first couple of crops. Newgate will support The Factor "with many of our Gr1 mares." Making his Australian debut for $22,000, The Factor will stand alongside Foxwedge, Sizzling and Eurozone.
