Mother Goose Next Stop For Untapable
In her first work since capturing the Kentucky Oaks, Winchell Thoroughbreds' homebred filly Untapable (Tapit-Fun House, by Prized) breezed five furlongs in 1:01 2/5 at Churchill Downs on Monday morning in preparation for the Gr1 Mother Goose at Belmont Park on 28 June, reports bloodhorse.com. "The Mother Goose is our next target," trainer Steve Asmussen said in a release. "She breezed beautifully Monday morning and she's a tremendously talented filly." Unlike some of her Oaks rivals, Untapable is bypassing the Gr1 Acorn Stakes on Belmont Stakes day in preference for the Mother Goose which Asmussen believes is a better fit for her future program. "There's a lot left on her docket for the year," Asmussen said. "We want to keep her stretched out and we want to keep her in the rhythm that she's in that has allowed her to have so much success this year." When asked if Untapable could compete against the males somewhere down the track, Asmussen said, "We don't rule out running against the boys, but there are a lot of options out there for her. Right now, tentatively, we have the Mother Goose, the Coaching Club of America Oaks and the Alabama which are all tremendous spots for her coming up on the calendar." Untapable has established herself as the pre-eminent 3YO filly in North America winning 5 of her 7 starts for US$1,124,725 in prize-money.
