Westbury Park Secures Admiration

Wednesday, 28th May 2014

In an exciting announcement for the WA breeding industry, brilliant Hong Kong sprinter-miler Admiration has been secured to stand the 2014 season at Phil Ibbotson's Westbury Park Stud. A leading son of Champion sire and sire of sires Encosta de Lago, particularly recently through the deeds of his ill-fated yet freakish sire-son Northern Meteor, Admiration features an equally attractive distaff pedigree, being from stakeswinning Redoute's Choice mare Provence. Admiration's quality and athleticism was obvious even as a yearling when selling from the draft of leading nursery Widden Stud for a lofty $625,000. Dam Provence is from a half-sister to scintillating HK Gr1 galloper Lucky Unicorn in La Bamba (by Last Tycoon). This is also the family of Gr1 winners Masked Party and Festal, together with this season's Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Complacent. Racing at the elite level throughout his career, Admiration collected 7 wins and $8.6M in stakes. An early 2YO, his class carried through to his 4YO season where he triumphed in the Gr2 HKJC Chairman's Trophy (defeating subsequent dual Gr1 winner Glorious Days and triple Gr1 winner Able One). The deal was brokered by Perth Bloodstock Agent John Chalmers. A fee is still to be announced.
