Danehill Dancer Retired

Thursday, 29th May 2014

Coolmore have announced that Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) has been retired from stud duties, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. Coolmore said that the 21YOs fertility had declined steadily over the years to the point where he failed to get any mares in foal this season. In his 16 crops, Danehill Dancer sired five champions, 81 Group winners and 154 black-type winners with total progeny earnings of $118,627,252. Amongst his top progeny are triple Gr1 winner Private Steer, 1,000 Guineas and Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Again, Coronation Stakes and Matron Stakes winner Lillie Langtry, St James's Palace Stakes winner Mastercraftsman, and champion Australian sprinter Choisir, the latter two becoming successful sires in their own right. "Danehill Dancer has been a terrific stallion over the years," said Coolmore's Christy Grassick. "Starting out at a lowly fee he continually upgraded his mares and ultimately became a major force in European and Australian breeding."
