Hong Kong Beckons For Buffering
Robert Heathcote is planning to take star sprinter Buffering (Mossman-Action Annie, by Anabaa) to Hong Kong at the end of the year for the big International meeting in December, reports racingandsports.com.au. The 6YO is currently spelling following a disappointing campaign, Buffering will be given an extensive break with three likely targets in the spring - the Gr1 Moir Stakes, Gr1 Manikato Stakes and Gr1 VRC Sprint Classic - before making the trip to Hong Kong. "I'm giving him a good break. Things just didn't go quite right this campaign," Heathcote told RSN. "His career best form was last spring and he may not get to those heights again, but I'm confident that he can. I've been in touch with the authorities in Hong Kong and also the vets with regards to inoculations, because two years ago he had an adverse reaction to one of the boosters...so hopefully we can avoid the same problem again." He added, "Fortunately Buffering has proven during his career that he's a good traveller. He successfully flew across to Perth and settled in and won the Winterbottom [Gr1] and then flew all the way back to Brisbane...quite a lengthy trip but he coped with it well."
