First Foal For All Too Hard

Friday, 1st August 2014

General Manager Peter Orton and his Vinery team are looking forward to the dawn of a new era with exciting young stallion All Too Hard, whose first foal was born at Burnewang North Pastoral in Victoria on Thursday. A big, strong bay, the colt is the first foal from the US-bred mare Running Royalty (Songandaprayer), a daughter of dual Gr1 winner Queens Court Queen (Lyphard). This is also the family of Gr1 Santa Anita Handicap winner Mr Purple and English Derby winner Henbit. A record-breaking colt of his generation, All Too Hard will begin covering his second book in September and has the potential to surpass the stud records of Vinery stalwarts Red Ransom, Testa Rossa, Mossman and More Than Ready. All Too Hard was ranked Australia's Champion 3YO in 2012-13 and earned that honour after winning the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas in the spring before returning in the autumn to land WFA features the Gr1 Orr Stakes, G1 Futurity Stakes and G1 All Aged Stakes. He is the only horse in history to win all four of those Gr1 races in the one season. All Too Hard (Casino Prince-Helsinge, by Desert Sun) covered a stellar book of mares in his first season at stud last year including 18 Gr1 winners and the dams of 12 Gr1 winners. "He is the most spectacular physical specimen and offers a great pedigree mix to a vast range of broodmares," Vinery general manager Peter Orton said. "He's a half brother to Black Caviar and offers the blood of champion sires like Danehill, Snippets, Last Tycoon, Flying Spur and Vain." All Too Hard stands at Vinery at a fee of $66,000.
