He's Your Man Wins Listed Winter Challenge

Monday, 4th August 2014

At Rosehill Gardens, former Darley shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a black-type success when 6YO French-bred gelding He's Your Man (Cape Cross-Via Saleria, by Arazi) scored by 1.3-lengths for trainer Chris Waller in the $100,000 Listed Winter Challenge (1500m) for 3YO+, over stable-mates 9YO UK-bred gelding I'm Imposing (Danehill Dancer-On Fair Stage, by Sadler's Wells) & 7YO NZ-bred gelding Coup Ay Tee (Danske-Flying Coup (NZ), by Tuscany Flyer). This was the first victory for He's Your Man since arriving in Australia and took his record to 3 wins (including the Listed Prix Bedel in France) and 5 placings (including the Listed Civic Stakes) from 15 starts for $178,040 earnings. Trainer Chris Waller said He's Your Man's primary spring target was the Gr1 The Metropolitan (2400m) at Royal Randwick on 4 October. "It is good to see that turn of foot, that will keep him competitive in lead up races towards the Metropolitan Handicap," Waller told TVN. "We will take one step at a time, the Premiers Cup is in four weeks. He showed today that he doesn't need racing to keep fit, that will probably be his next run." He's Your Man is out of the Arazi mare Via Saleria, a half-sister to Gr1 Criterium de Saint Cloud winning stallion Poliglote. This is also the family of French 1,000 Guineas winner Aryenne, dam of Epsom Derby winner and former Woodlands Stud stallion Quest For Fame.
