Sebring Filly Wins In South Africa

Monday, 4th August 2014

Australian-bred filly Maayaat (Sebring-Porto Cervo, by Danzero) recorded a stylish win for Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell operation at Turffontein in South Africa overnight. Trained by Mike de Kock, the 3YO daughter of Sebring scored by 0.8-length in a 1400m fillies and mares maiden plate at her second career start. Maayaat was purchased for $200,000 by Shadwell Australia at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Widden Stud, and is the first winner for the Danzero mare Porto Cervo, a full-sister to dual stakes winner Pinezero. This is the family of Gr1 Falmouth Stakes winner River Dane, Gr1 winner Pure Of Heart (dam of Lion Hunter), Bill Stutt Stakes winner Schubert, Abonnement (dam of Gonski), and Gr2 winner Downhill Racer.
