Temperature Sidelines Rubick

Monday, 4th August 2014

The spring carnival plans for exciting 3YO Rubick (Encosta de Lago-Sliding Cube, by Rock of Gibraltar) have been put on hold after the colt picked up a temperature during the week, reports racingnetwork.com.au. The son of Encosta de Lago, who is part-owned by Coolmore Stud and media personality David Raphael, was set to resume in the Gr3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on 16 August, but will now spend two weeks in a paddock. "He picked up a temperature through the week so needs two weeks in the paddock and then a couple of weeks after that we will assess," trainer Gerald Ryan said. "It is disappointing but hopefully he can be right for the later part of the spring. If not we will turn him out and look at resuming in the autumn, races like the Lightning (Stakes)." Ryan said he remains hopeful that Rubick can be back in time for the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on 1 November.
