Wow Signal Misses Phoenix

Wednesday, 6th August 2014

The Wow Signal (Starspangledbanner-Muravka, by High Chaparral) will miss the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday, reports 1.skysports.com. The unbeaten son of Starspangledbanner, who looked a high-class juvenile when landing the Gr2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, was set to line up in Europe's first Gr1 of the season for 2YOs but scoped dirty after a workout on Tuesday morning. "He can't run at the weekend, which is obviously disappointing, but it's not the end of the world. He scoped dirty this morning, so we'll have to backtrack a bit," explained trainer John Quinn. "We were very pleased with him in his work this morning, but these things can clean up quite quickly so we should get him back soon enough." Quinn added, "We'll have a look at the Morny (Gr1 Prix Morny at Deauville), but there's also races like the Middle Park and the Dewhurst (both at Newmarket) to think about."
