Costume To Target Caulfield Cup

Thursday, 7th August 2014

Gr1-winning New Zealand mare Costume (Savabeel-Disguised, by O'Reilly) will open her spring campaign at Te Rapa on Saturday week before heading to Australia for a tilt at the Caulfield Cup, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Garry Chittick-owned and raced 5YO, who won the Gr1 Herbie Dykes Stakes at Te Rapa in February, impressed at the Te Teko trials on Tuesday when finishing second under a tight hold. "That was a super trial over 1200 metres," co-trainer Debbie Rogerson said. "We'll look to run her first-up in the Foxbridge Plate. We'll map a plan out for her after that and we've got the Caulfield Cup in mind for her." Costume's stable-mate Soriano (Savabeel-Call Me Lily, by Just a Dancer), winner of the Gr2 Awapuni Gold Cup in March, won her trial on Tuesday and is also likely to run in the Foxbridge Plate with a programme to be confirmed after her first-up run.
