First Foal For Animal Kingdom

Thursday, 7th August 2014

The first reported foal by Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom (Leroidesanimaux-Dalicia, by Acatenango) has been born at Arrowfield Stud in Australia, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. The newborn is a filly out of the Redoute's Choice mare Tumble Turn, a winning daughter of Gr2 SAJC Breeders' Stakes winner Freestyle. This is also the family of stakes winner Stella Artois (Freestyle's dam), Gr2 Reisling Slipper Trial winner Ginzano, and Gr3 winners Smytzer's Trish and Australian Oaks runner-up Aliyana Tilde, who is in foal to the stallion. Animals Kingdom's first foal arrived in a timely manner given that Conrad Bandoroff, the son of Craig and Holly Bandoroff who own Denali Stud where the son of Leroidesanimaux was born, is currently working at Arrowfield. After his breeders Team Valor bought the colt back for $100,000 as a yearling at Keeneland, the family took a share in him. Commenting on the filly, Bandoroff said: "I'm really excited by this foal, especially because she's out of a mare by Redoute's Choice, and Arrowfield can send so many of his daughters to Animal Kingdom. It's great to see what that mating has produced - she's such a nice foal with good size, good substance and a great frame on her." Animal Kingdom, who is currently in quarantine following his northern hemisphere stint at Darley's Jonabell Farm in Kentucky, will stand at Arrowfield this spring at a fee of $33,000.
