Kirramosa To Resume In Missile

Friday, 8th August 2014

Last year's VRC Oaks winner Kirramosa (Alamosa-Freyja, by Danske) will open her spring Cups' campaign in Saturday's Gr2 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Randwick, reports NZ Racing Desk. "I couldn't be happier with her and this race is a stepping stone to the big cups, but she is a quality mare and she'll be running on strongly," said trainer John Sargent. "She's obviously not fully wound-up, I'd say about 85 percent fit but she's very well in herself and will run a good race." After Saturday, the Alamosa mare will head toward the Gr1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) on 4 October. "She'll have another run after that before we head south for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups," Sargent added. "She is a much bigger and much stronger mare now. She was always a little bit weak, but got through on her big heart and her class."
