At Deauville in France, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Group success when 6YO entire Gatewood (Galileo-Felicity, by Selkirk) scored by 2-lengths for trainer John Gosden in the €80,000 Gr3 Prix de Reux (12.5 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 3YO colt Rio Tigre (Teofilo-Braziliz, by Kingmambo) & 5YO entire Going Somewhere (Sulamani-Angel Star, by Special Nash). Gatewood, who has previously campaigned in Australia, took his record to 8 wins (including the Gr3 Geelong Cup, Listed Tapster Stakes & Listed Wolferton Handicap) and 9 placings (including the Gr3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes) from 24 starts for $593,716 earnings. Racing UK reports that a return to trip to Australia for the Melbourne Cup is on the agenda for Gatewood, who is part-owned by Australian-based OTI Racing.
