Galileo Colt Sold To Australian Interests
Coolmore racing manager James Bester has revealed that Aidan O'Brien will bring talented young stayer Adelaide (Galileo-Elletelle, by Elnadim) to Australia for the WS Cox Plate after the 3YO contests Sunday's Secretariat Stakes (2000m) at Arlington Park in the US, reports racingnetwork.com.au. Bester said a 50 per cent share in the Irish-bred colt had been sold to clients of Chris Waller. "Should the horse remain in Australia after the Cox Plate then that's where he would go," Bester said. "Whether he remains in Australia after the Cox Plate is the question." Bester added, "We are hoping he runs well in America next week, we're hoping that justifies a trip to the Cox Plate and then depending on what unfolds there's a possibility he may remain in Australia." Adelaide is one of five horses - Kingfisher, Magician, Table Rock and Venus de Milo are the others - that O'Brien has entered for the Cox Plate on 25 October. It will be O'Brien's first trip to Australia since 2008 when he had three runners in the Melbourne Cup, namely Septimus, Alessandro Volta and Honolulu. Adelaide has won 2 of his 5 starts to date, including the Gr3 Gallinule Stakes (2000m). At his most recent outing he was runner-up behind Mr Speaker in the Gr1 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (2000m).
